ramblings of a dying man...

Friday, April 20, 2007

"In the Tibetan philosophy, Sylvia Plath sense of the word. I know we're all dying. But you're not dying the way Chloe back there is dying."-Edward Norton

I'm not dying, not really, i'm not host to either cancer nor parasite and i count my blessings, because some people i really care about are or may be. but we're all told to daily examine ourselves and i've been told lately that i'm dying.

the leading cause of death in america isn't heart disease or AIDS, not drunk drivers or cancer, not even stress and fatigue...it's birth. it appears that no one in recent memory that has suffered from birth has escaped death. in fact, the human bodies number one hobby from birth is creating new cells and replacing dead cells until the age of 24, at this age the number of cells dying begins to increase to the point of surpassing the number of cells being "born." it may take seventy years, but, uninterrupted, this trend will result in my favorite cause of death..."everything failure."

at the age of 25, i'm already on the downhill slides, in a technical sense of the word. all i can do for the rest of my life is feel this meat suite rot and decay round me until it finally gives out and i get to trade it in for a newer model.

my sister has often said that every year we celebrate our birthday, the first number carved in our tombstone. equally inevitable is the fact that every year we pass our date of death, the second number on our tombstone. all that's recorded in granite at the end of our lives are those two numbers and a one inch dash representing our lives. no matter how old you were or how important you are all your life is worth is one inch, so breathtakingly vast is eternity.

one day i'll have a family and when i'm gone they'll remember me, but when they're gone i'll be forgotten, but i'll live forever...just not here.

have a nice day.
