"old age, the one disease from which you don't look foward to being cured."-Citizen Kane
if you drove past my parents farm last week, it would have looked very much like it has for the past several years, aside from the vegetation and landscaping changes. if you drove past it now, you'd see my dads serogot greenhouse protruding from the back of one of his barns.
as many of you know, mom and dad made thier living for the better part of 25 years with plants, greenhouses and special events. now at age 54 (happy birthday mom), the find themselves wondering what to do now that part of thier life is behind them. part of thier energy is dedicated to the farm.
my mother has always enjoyed poultry, despite the fact that she can't keep them from being eaten. this problem has found many solutions over the years, some superb and some not-so-elegant, and this time might be a winner. because growing in this serogot greenhouse is, in dad's words, "the most expensive eggs in the world."
i don't think thier retirement will last long, because, well, thier starting to act a little strangely, but at least the chickens will be safe.
