well, it doesn't hurt to ask...

To read a newspaper is to refrain from reading something worthwhile. The first discipline of education must therefore be to refuse resolutely to feed the mind with canned chatter.-Aleister Crowley

aleister crowley, i may recieve some flack for chosing that quote, not from the truth pervayed by it, but by whom it was said. crowley, for those who don't know he was very much in the vain of antoine levay (though not associated with him) as an important figure in the occult toward the end of the 19th century, followed in the bedlum of the sixties by timothy leary, who believed he was crowley reborn. the question remains, why this quote and why crowley.

truth can be conveyed amongst ignorance. that's my point...that's it and that's all. this stems from a conversation jason and i had somewhere between flagstaff and amarillo (we made it back from utah alive, by the way, see jasons blog for more info) in which a very intellectual person is unable to comprehend the brilliance of a statement simply because of who said it, and it shocked me.

when truth can no longer be perceived for what it is, we come dangerously close to being spoon fed all informational pablum from whomever we percieve as a "reliable source." one of the worst defenses for the christian faith is "it's true because i believe it is." such statements are pure maudlin crap which makes nothing true, and it makes you less reputable for saying it.

we have to believe in truth because it's true, i've often said in response to "i don't believe you" (people tell me this alot, and i don't know why), "well that doesn't make it any less true."

shoot straight, and what's fact will rise to the top... and the truth shall set you free.

have a nice day.
